A Social Campaign of Blood Donation and It¢¥s Problems


Abstract
1. The program of blood-donation in Korea has been activated from February 1973.
2. The majority of donors in these days were under twenty years old young people.
3. The Confucianism actually interferes the proceeding of donation program in this community, and this kind of traditional idea does not exist in Western countries where there is no serious problems in donating the blood.
4. The activity of Korean Red Cross Blood Service must be reinforced including the aspects of personnel and equipment, etc., even to supply the least need of blood demand at present.
5. Encouragement of donation of blood from family members or friends of recipient patients is considered as one of possible and practical measures to recover from the drastic shortage of blood supply.
6. A radical re-establishment of Blood Bank System is urgent to be purchased immediately as medical and social need.
